About the Position:
The Nutrition Services Assistant helps to prepare and serve students and staff nutritious and appealing meals in a sanitary and efficient manner.
Assist food preparation under the supervision of a manager/team leader, maintain standards of sanitation and safety, production, service and food quality, able to work independently and as team member, develop and maintain excellent customer service relations with students, parents and faculty.
- Follows all USDA and sanitation regulations as pertinent to the school nutrition service program;
- Maintains awareness of any special diet or food preparation (food allergies) for the purpose of ensuring the health and safety of the students and staff.
- Prepares, serves and cleans all food items and equipment as per instruction from Manager and/or Director, as necessary;
- Verifies any food produced meets quality
- Fill out cleaning logs, production records and temperature logs
- Knows how to use food service computer system and district email system, as needed;
- Assists with ordering of food, supplies, production records and other forms, as necessary;
- Attends all in-service meetings, workshops, and trainings as scheduled by the Director;
- Maintains 8 hours of annual continuing education/training;
- Practices good customer service with all staff, students, and other customers;
- Prepares food and/or works any special functions as assigned, by the Director;
- Reports any unsafe equipment or work hazards to the Manager, as needed;
- Assists with implementation of HACCP plan and implementation of the plan;
- Performs functions of other nutrition services positions for the purpose of ensuring each station/job/function is completed on a daily basis, as needed.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Manager/Nutrition Services Director.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation based on experience. Benefit eligiblity based on assigned hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED;
- Proficient math, reading and computer skills;
- Ability to calcuate total cost of items on food tray; utilize basic cash handling skills;
- Ability to work as a successful team member;
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the primary functions of the job;
- Ability to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs at a time;
- Ability to bend, reach, push and pull frequently;
- Ability to stand for majority of shift;
- Ability to walk frequently.
